This action by the Canadian Federal government is akin to awarding the Order of Canada to a scientist who comes up with a new chemical weapon to kill people.

Not all "accomplishments" should be "celebrated". For example, remember the DISGUST you felt when terrorist attacks on Israel or other western democracies were met in the Middle East with street parties, laughing, dancing, and singing the praises of the killers? Canada is doing EXACTLY THE SAME THING in awarding Morgantaler the Order of Canada.

Even the morally reprehensible but expedient political concept of "optics" seems to have been ignored here.

I'm beginning to think that Stephen Harper and Ed Stelmach are the same person - rather like Peter Sellers playing several roles in DR. STRANGELOVE. Does that sound crazy? Why? Remember! You're in C-A-N-A-D-U-H! Anything can happen in the demented dominion...

You express my sentiments. On this Canada day I was quite proud to wear a 'Support our troops' hat but I could not bring myself to wear red, or fly the flag. As I expressed to my daughter when she asked about Canada Day, I could only answer, I not all that happy with my country right now.

I am very seriously doubtful at this point if I will even vote at the next opportunity.

Thank you Scott for your post on what is indeed a dark day for this country. When I read today's National Post piece indicating that Morgentaler was named as a member of the Order, I was momentarily numbed at the thought. But not entirely surprised given the elitists' utter disregard for the Judeo-Christian tenets that built this country.

To even fathom that Canada would "honor" a principal player in the legalized killing of unborn children is too disgusting for words. How paradoxical that an award presumably intended to recognize nation-builders would be awarded to someone who condones the condemning of the very citizens who will never have a chance to build up this country.

Archbishop Collin's statement was deeply appreciated and well said!

Regards from Edmonton.
