Seeking to force Macleans to publish is an infringement on speech in itself. Anyone has the right to any opinion they wish. We all have the right to express that opinion as we see fit. No one has an obligation to provide others with a platform, that being a gross rights infringement in itself. Free expression is the right to express any opinion I wish, or to equally refrain from expressing any opinion I wish. Seeking to force Macleans to publish is an infringement on speech in itself.

The Editor refused them the right to dictate the cover, content (apart from grammatical editing)and so on of the magazine itself; not the Letters page. This is all well known.
