More complaints from loud-mouthed Muslim fanatics.
Influential Malaysian Muslim women demanded on Friday a budget airline to swap its flight attendants' miniskirts for less revealing, more Islamic attire in keeping with the multi-faith country's dominant religion.
. . .
"Malaysia is an Islamic nation and we are ashamed of the AirAsia uniform," she [delegate Zaleha Hussin] told the meeting.
It’s not as if "budget" AirAsia is the only air travel option in Malaysia. Far from it. Besides the national airline Malaysia Airlines, this page lists about 30 international airlines serving the country, including Qantas, Air France, and Lufthansa. But those "influential" women pick on the budget airline. They’re cheap as well as pushy.
Above is a screen shot from AirAsia’s website. Do these ladies’ outfits look "revealing" to you? What exactly is there to be covered up?
Female delegates of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), during a debate on Islam at the final day of its week-long annual meeting, zeroed in on AirAsia's stewardesses, saying their skirts should go down to the ankles.
Well, OK, the photo doesn’t show the flight attendants from the waist down. But I’ll bet their uniforms are no more “revealing” that those worn on other airlines flying into Kuala Lumpur. Do stewardesses on Air France wear regulation Islamic garb? No way!
