The collect for today, the 12th Sunday after Trinity, from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer:
Almighty and everlasting God, thou art always more ready to hear than we to pray, and art wont to give more than we desire, or deserve; Pour down upon us the abundance of thy mercy; forgiving us those things whereof our conscience is afraid, and giving us those good things which we are not worthy to ask, but through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ, thy Son, Our Lord. Amen.

The Gospel: St Mark 7:31-37
This collect is the most amazingly concise summary of the overwhelming power and support we all have from God. A terrific pocket reminder for anyone who has ever done a 12-step programme “Step 2″ and needs pocket memory jogger of the truth of God’s love and active power in our lives. We work to live by our commitment to prayer lives, but He is there, generously pouring his healing and loving energy into our lives - Almightly over any issue, and Everlasting and un-ending in his support.
