Except for last Sunday’s collect from the Book of Common Prayer, a week has gone by since my last post.  What’s going on?

I spent much of last week and the weekend fighting an infection in my left eyelid.  By Thursday afternoon, it had swelled so much I could barely open the eye. The StatDaughter said that my eye looked like a tomato had been stuffed into the corner beside my nose.  Needless to say, I was unable to surf the internet or write blog posts.

I consulted two doctors.  Doctor #1 prescribed an antibiotic ointment but, the next morning, the infection had worsened considerably.  So, the following day I waited about two hours to see Doctor #2 who said the ointment was worthless, if not detrimental.  She prescribed a different antibiotic in pill form.  The infection didn’t get any worse, but it was only two days later that I was sure it was improving.  The course of antibiotic is almost finished and the problem is still not cleared up, so I may need a refill.

Anyway, during my compulsory blog fast, I decided that I need to spend my free time doing other things besides web-surfing and blogging.  My stack of unread books is approaching the ceiling.  I should be doing more in church and spending more time with the family.  Extra time in prayer would be good.  While I’m at it, some more exercise wouldn’t hurt, either.

Bottom line: For the next while, I’ll be blogging less than I have during the past couple of years.  I expect this to be only a temporary lull, because I do enjoy blogging very much, but we shall have to wait and see what develops.
