Pope Benedict XVI is reported to have approved a new policy document stating that homosexual men should not be admitted to Catholic seminaries. The new document, to be released soon, will take the form of an "instruction".
The text, which was approved by Pope Benedict at the end of August, says that homosexual men should not be admitted to seminaries even if they are celibate, because their condition suggests a serious personality disorder which detracts from their ability to serve as ministers.
Other news sources could not corroborate that the pope has actually approved the wording of the policy, but it has been confirmed that the Vatican is working on such a document.
I blogged on this developing story last month. More here.
