Magic Statistics

Follow-up from Taybeh, West Bank Christian town

A follow-up to an earlier post from Dr Maria Khoury, an American citizen who has lived in Taybeh for many years. (She spells the town's name "Taybeh", but the original report I linked spelled it "Taiba".) Taybeh, the last completely Christian town in the West Bank, was attacked by a mob of Muslims on the night of 3 September because a Muslim woman from a nearby village was accused of having an affair with a Christian man from Taybeh. Dr Khoury's husband David Khoury is the new mayor of the town. Sounds like he may have his hands full.

Christ’s love and peace is more important than ever. Our witness to Christian values and our struggle to exist as a small community is now at the mercy of not only the Israeli Occupying power which is legally responsible for protecting unarmed civilians but also at the hands of the Palestinian Authority who must bring law and order and put an end to tribal laws which are detrimental in this new millennium. Family feuds should be taken to a courtroom not solved in the hands of hundreds of crazy fanatics that are capable of wiping out a whole village with such aggressive violence that leave you speechless.

Welcome, Theologica Readers

I see that my blog visitation is up today due to this link from World magazine's new Theologica blog. I hope that my take on Robert Funk and the Jesus Seminar is helpful and thought-provoking and that you'll look around my site and find other interesting stuff.

Thanks to Rebecca Stark, proprietress of Rebecca Writes, for the link, and congrats on being one of those chosen to blog at Theologica, which looks like it will be a site to visit regularly for evangelical views on theology and related topics.

By the by, unfortunately, I don't anticipate having a lot of new content on my blog for the next several days because my spare time is presently devoted to preparing a class for adult Sunday school this coming Sunday. But I hope to be back blogging by the end of the week.
